Profile

Madeleine has always loved making things since she was a child. She went to Art School to explore drawing, sculpture, photography print and textiles and later found her happiest way of working - making the chandeliers - quite by accident after finding some chandelier glass. She has always worked in the creative field whether as a photographer, theatre prop maker or teacher before working on the chandeliers full-time.

"I was delighted to discover that people liked them and wanted to buy them, this enabled me to continue two favoured activities of collecting and constructing. It was never just about producing a product, I enjoy that I can blend making art that tickles people, pursue an ecological working practise and support charities all at once."

I am a member of Craft Central

Teaching
I run workshops for children based on my recycling work and have run these at Triskel Arts in Cork, Guys Hospital School, Vauxhall City Farm, various secondary schools in London and Australia - the latter for the British Council.

2011 I co-taught 'Hot and Ready Made Lighting' with Nanda Soderburg, experimental glass reworking, a summer course at Pilchuck Glass School, Seattle, USA.

1990-2004 I was a part-time tutor in Adult Education in the Creative Studies Dept at South Thames College.
Main subject - Photography, also painting and drawing and mixed media to both special needs groups and mainstream. I devised and wrote all my courses.

I have also been a visiting lecturer at Somerset College of Art & Design on the Surface Design degree course.

I have City & Guilds level 1 Teaching qualification and 16 years experience.

A Word On Charity - Notice to Customers
Each year I give 2% of my profits to The Paul D'Auria Cancer Support Centre in Battersea, South London. They are a small but vital charity who support cancer sufferers and their family and friends. They understand well all the issues surrounding a diagnosis and treatment.

Having lost my oldest friend and my brother to untimely deaths by cancer within a year of each other I decided to involve any success in my business with this charity. I hope I will always be able to support them as they did us, and in buying one of my chandeliers you are contributing to the experienced support that other families may receive.

As a lot of my components are from a variety of charity shops you are contributing to many other charities too.
